WORSHIP AT HERALD BAPTIST CHURCH

"I sought the Lord, and He answered me,

and delivered me from all my fears"

- Psalms 34:4

What We Believe

"I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
     He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
     was crucified, died, and was buried;
     he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
     He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
     the holy catholic* church,
     the communion of saints,
     the forgiveness of sins,
     the resurrection of the body,
     and the life everlasting. Amen."

CHILDREN / YOUTH WEDNESDAY MINISTRY

Every Wednesday

6:30pm - 7:30pm

K-12 (k-5th & 6th-12th separate classes)

Bring your kids and youth for some fun and worship at our Wednesday night ministries where they'll fellowship together during our engaging Bible studies, recreation/crafting activities, and much more! At Herald Baptist Church our young people are very important to us, and we purposely seek to provide an atmosphere where all ages can grow in their knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We center every detail of our Wednesday night services around the Scriptures, as we strive to infuse biblical truths in their lives that we pray, will grow them into future leaders in their homes, and church.

ADULT WEDNESDAY NIGHT MINISTRY

Every Wednesday

6:30pm - 7:30pm

Our Wednesday night Bible study consists of an in-depth study through complete books of the Bible, taught by Tim Shelton, and is assisted by Carla as they share what God has laid upon their hearts from their study during the week. They typically have a lively discussion, and both share many life applications that are common to ones most often shared by other Christian’s. The members in attendance are free to ask questions; and we welcome these questions as they enhance the group study as they together explore the biblical truths that provide the answers. We would love to have you all join us in this fun study.

SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

Every Sunday

9:30am - 10:30am

As I teach Sunday School before our service, I am focused on providing theological training that is intended to ground and unify our members in biblical truth. The intent is to expand the knowledge of all in attendance and stretch them to grow in their sanctification. There is no schedule that I follow in teaching, as I allow the Holy Spirit to guide this study thoroughly. Currently we are going through the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, plus looking at various creeds, confessions, catechisms, and historical counsels.

SUNDAY SERVICE

Every Sunday

11am - 12:15pm

Our primary worship service consists of a healthy mix of prayer, hymns, Scripture reading, expository preaching, and the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We do livestream the service on our Facebook page, however, we would be thrilled to have you join us in our service. I am accustomed to primarily preach exhaustive expositions though books of the Bible, but occasionally, I will deliver a special message.

OUR STORY

Serving the Herald Community

First Baptist Church of Herald was founded on Easter Sunday of 1972 by Grace McCune, her sister Virginia, and Al and Lottie Weis. It started in the same living room Grace McCune still lives in today with their first ever Herald Baptist church service with a total of 15 attendees. It quickly grew and moved to the then Herald & Arno’s little red school house where they spread the gospel and worked towards growing a Godly led community church for Herald. These four inexperienced individuals led by the Holy Spirit purchased land in the Herald community and built the main sanctuary building that still stands today. They held Wednesday night ministries and Sunday service not knowing whether anyone would come, if they’d have enough money to keep the lights on, if they’d have a pastor for that Sunday, and even having Sunday services with just the pastor and Ms. Grace. These individuals were challenged but did not let go of their faith and knew God would provide.

Today, First Baptist Church of Herald seeks to build upon the solid foundation built by God through the faithful original founding members. We seek to mold God’s church in Herald to become as biblically based as possible in our actions, outreach, and worship service. We feel these will be enhanced through an intentional vigorous process of discipleship offered to all members. We also will be searching for ways to impact the community of Herald, and the surrounding communities through evangelism and community service, realized through our discipled members.

MEET OUR PASTOR

My name is Paul Smith and I am mightily blessed of God to be called to pastor this wonderful church. I prayerfully seek to disciple this united assembly of God’s people to a greater understanding of His Word, and challenge all members to intentionally disciple others in obedience to the command of Christ in Matthew 28:19-20.

Our goal for the immediate future is to strengthen the unity and theological aptitude of our current members through intentional, vigorous discipleship, and sound exegetical preaching and teaching. Concurrently, we will employ various methods of outreach to evangelize our community and if it is within God’s will, increase our membership levels, specifically in young adults with families.
