HISTORY
Serving the Herald Community

First Baptist Church of Herald was founded on Easter Sunday of 1972 by Grace McCune, her sister Virginia, and Al and Lottie Weis. It started in the same living room Grace McCune still lives in today with their first ever Herald Baptist church service with a total of 15 attendees. It quickly grew and moved to the then Herald & Arno’s little red school house where they spread the gospel and worked towards growing a Godly led community church for Herald. These four inexperienced individuals led by the Holy Spirit purchased land in the Herald community and built the main sanctuary building that still stands today. They held Wednesday night ministries and Sunday service not knowing whether anyone would come, if they’d have enough money to keep the lights on, if they’d have a pastor for that Sunday, and even having Sunday services with just the pastor and Ms. Grace. These individuals were challenged but did not let go of their faith and knew God would provide.
Today, First Baptist Church of Herald seeks to build upon the solid foundation built by God through the faithful original founding members. We seek to mold God’s church in Herald to become as biblically based as possible in our actions, outreach, and worship service. We feel these will be enhanced through an intentional vigorous process of discipleship offered to all members. We also will be searching for ways to impact the community of Herald, and the surrounding communities through evangelism and community service, realized through our discipled members.
